Healthy Eating Plan

Healthy eating plan: Planning when to eat seems a bit strange doesn’t it?  Who needs a healthy eating plan?  Babies don’t plan when they eat.  When they’re hungry, they just make a lot of noise until someone gets the picture that they are hungry.

The older generation was very deliberate about the times that they ate.  If the clock said 6:00 p.m., then it was time for supper, etc.  The current generation’s lives are so hectic which means there is no set time for anything.  When the time comes that something needs to be done, then you do it.  No special timetable…just do it when you get the time.

Healthy Lifestyle

  1. The problem with this lifestyle is your body never knows when it is going to receive fuel.
  2. Therefore, when you finally do take time to eat; your body goes into starvation mode which means it holds back fuel because it doesn’t know when it will get more.
  3. Are you ready to make a change in your life in order to give your body the best chance for a healthy, long life?  If so, the first thing is…YOU MUST…put yourself at the top of the list.
  4. With all the chasing around you do, you have put yourself dead last on your “to-do” list.
  5. When you’re trying to change a behavior…especially a health-related behavior…you must be first on the list of priorities.
  6. You have to know that you are special and you deserve to have the time, energy, and effort to accomplish all you need to do for years to come.
  7. In order for your body to work at an optimal level, it must have fuel every few hours.  This means….you have to plan out your meals ahead of time.

Your healthy eating plan should consist of 4 meals over a period of 12 hours.  You can add a 5th meal if you need a morning snack. It is vital that your first meal of the day should be within 1 hour of waking.

Here is an example of a good plan to follow…

  • 1 starch + 1 dairy + 1 fruit + ¼ c. unsalted sunflower seeds (or substitute but you must have a protein with your breakfast) + water.

  • 1 protein + 1 dairy + 1 veggie + water.

  • 1 fruit + 1 good fat such as dark chocolate, avocado, nuts, olives).

  • 1 veggie + 1 protein + 1 starch + 1 tsp. olive oil (on your veggies or starch).

This is a sample plan and a good one to follow. But find your own, one that you will stick with forever.  This isn’t a temporary change…but a lifestyle change.  This doesn’t mean that you can’t have that piece of chocolate cake “once in a while” but follow this schedule overall.

Educating yourself on when to eat will give you the tools to set yourself up with a healthy eating plan that will pay off with great dividends such as more energy, fewer diseases, and overall a happier you.
Folks, try to follow the above healthy eating plan for healthy living. Are you following any eating plans? Let me know please leave a comment.
