Eating Healthy and Live Happy

Why is Eating Healthy is very Important?

  • Eating healthy is a very popular subject today.
  • Every time you turn on the TV or your computer or pick up a magazine, it’s all about eating healthy and stopping obesity.
  • What does eating healthy mean to you? To some people, it just means eating a few carrot sticks and using all the “light” products you see in the grocery store.
  • It seems that we have two perspectives out there. On the one hand, you have the health-conscious nuts that will only eat their way and on the other hand, you have people who could care less about what they put in their body as long as it tastes good to them.
  • In between these two extremes is a lot of leeways. Since you are 100% responsible for your health, you need to decide what eating healthy means to you.
  • You are setting the stage now for how you will live the rest of your life.
  • Once you have heart disease, diabetes, a stroke, or any other illness, it may be too late to change some of the damage done to your body.
  • However, if eating healthy becomes a part of what you do today, you can maybe eliminate some of these diseases or at least the effect of a disease may not be as severe for you.

According to wise words from Benjamin Franklin…

“One should eat to live, not live to eat”

Your body needs nutrition to function properly. According to Dr. Oz, his advice is to remember his “rule of fives”. Look at the labels of the food you eat.

If One of These Ingredients is Listed in The Top 5 Ingredients, Then don’t Eat It

1. High Fructose Corn Syrup

This is an inexpensive sugar that manufacturers use.

2. Sugar

Your body continues to crave food until it receives nutrients…sugar is not a nutrient.

3. Enriched

This is a process that removes most of the important nutrients.

4. Trans Fat

This is also known as hydrogenated fat. It lengthens the shelf life of food and shortens human life.

You can read more and get information from the following blog. Foods to Avoid Tips Like Genetically Modified & Hydrogenated Oils.

5. Saturated Fats

This is a fat that comes from 4-legged animals.

Choice of Eating Healthy

  • The wisest choice when it comes to picking good, nutritious food is to stick with fresh fruits and vegetables. These are the foods that contain the best concentration of nutrients that your body craves.
  • If you are picking foods that have a deep color to them, they are very rich in antioxidants.
  • Antioxidants help build up your immune system to fight off diseases.
  • You should have approximately 5 – 7 servings of these foods each day. Examples are tomatoes, broccoli, kidney beans, blueberries, artichokes, and prunes.
  • By adding just one of the above foods to your menu, you are helping your body.
  • You may notice you have increased energy or you just feel better.
  • Food plays an important part in how your body works and how you feel.

Virginia Woolf explains it this way….”One cannot think well, love well, sleep well if one has not dined well”

Make that decision today and begin your eating healthy plan.
